A Day of Giving
A Day of Giving

Directions
A Day of Giving promotes community involvement by providing individuals with the
opportunity to unite for one day to donate their products, services and time to
facilitate fundraising events that support non-profit organizations. Funds raised
through these communal efforts benefit organizations that empower, educate and
assist women and children. We know that no one person will solve all the worlds’
problems, but by joining together we can create a force that helps those who are
struggling or who have lost hope.

Q: Who benefits from A Day of Giving?
A: Each year a different local organizations are chosen to receive funds from A Day of Giving events and donations. In order to be eligible to receive funds, these criterion must be met:

  • Organization offer volunteer opportunities

  • Organization must be NON-PROFIT

  • Organization must help WOMEN and/or CHILDREN

  • Organization CANNOT accept ANY government funding

  • Every dollar raised MUST go directly to aid services or supplies for those in need

  • ALL proceeds must help individuals within the LOCAL community

Q: Why aren’t charities that take government funding eligible to receive monies raised by A Day of Giving’s Events?
A: Some organizations choose not to take government funds in order to avoid government regulations that can affect how funds are used. For Example: 2004's event benefited StandUp for Kids.  If StandUp took government funds they would be required to call Child Protective Services (CPS) the second a homeless minor was identified.  Problem is most minors would choose to stay home if home was safe and the first thing CPS will do is consider the youth a runaway and take them home, once home these teens are likely to run again.  StandUp tries to reunite homeless teens with their families, but they do so by building trust with frightened traumatized youth and calling CPS does not aid in accomplishing this goal.

Q: How many years has A Day of Giving existed?
A: A Day of Giving  began organizing events in 1999.

Q: What do I get if I give?
A: Some of the best reasons to give are the ones you may not have considered, the ones that make it worth your while to go that extra step. People who have contributed to a charity say that they get back in satisfaction and joy more than they ever expend in inconvenience or effort.  What you get back is immeasurable. Every dollar raised by A Day of Giving goes directly to those in need. This money provides aid services and products to help women and children that are in crisis. Your contributions have a direct effect on the quality of another’s life. Your donation will feed, house, cloth, counsel and/or give hope to someone who desperately needs your help.
